Singer/Master Teacher Byron Jones is well-known to Washington DC-area audiences, having performed regularly for more than three decades in opera, concert, recital, and intimate cabaret settings. Jones has received critical praise for his warmth of tone and clear, expressive use of language. A specialist in French music, he appeared in Jacques Brel: Songs from his World with the IN Series at Washington’s Source Theatre in 2017.

His operatic repertoire includes roles by Mozart, Puccini, Ullmann, Floyd, Mollicone, and more. As a concert singer, Jones has performed major works by Monteverdi, Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Mahler, Verdi, Berlioz, Orff, Fauré, Hailstork, Finzi, and Britten.

Jones’s comprehensive song repertoire includes major cycles by Schubert, Schumann, Ravel, Debussy, Poulenc, and Barber. His deep commitment to American art song includes everything from Ives to Owens and beyond. In October 2022, he travels to Irvine CA for the African American Art Song Alliance Conference to present a newly commissioned work by Andre Myers. In December, Jones makes his Lyric Fest (Philadelphia) debut with a program of songs by Arne Dørumsgaard with pianist Laura Ward.

Dr. Jones is Professor of Voice at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA. He has been a member of the voice faculty at Seagle Festival in Schroon Lake NY since 2012.
